It is a staple ingredient in Mexican cuisine, dating back to Aztec times, and just like avocados it’s a fundamental part of the Mexican diet.
The quintessentially sundried, thorny desert plant can be intimidating at first, but science suggests we should be eating more of these prickly pears as they are packed full of strong antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients, proving they are worthy of the label “superfood.”
Although eating cactus may seem like an unconventional idea. They rival the health benefits of many main superfoods such as beetroot, wheatgrass, etc as they’re high in vitamins and nutrients which could potentially cure debilitating diseases in an alternative way such as:
- Reducing Hangovers
- Lowering Cholesterol
- Lower Blood Sugar
- Helps with Weight Loss
- Protects Brain Cells
- Fights Cancer Cells
