Lucha's prickly new Superfood

As Lucha’s new menu goes through its final rigorous paces, you will find the prickly new superfood- Cactus growing roots in a handful of our newest dishes.

Most of us wouldn’t dare eat a cactus in the wild, however restaurants across the country are going wild for this prickly superfood as we’re starting to see cactus leaves make their way into smoothies and food dishes. They are an excellent way to get your green fix the Mexican way!

It is a staple ingredient in Mexican cuisine, dating back to Aztec times, and just like avocados it’s a fundamental part of the Mexican diet.

The quintessentially sundried, thorny desert plant can be intimidating at first, but science suggests we should be eating more of these prickly pears as they are packed full of strong antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients, proving they are worthy of the label “superfood.”

Although eating cactus may seem like an unconventional idea. They rival the health benefits of many main superfoods such as beetroot, wheatgrass, etc as they’re high in vitamins and nutrients which could potentially cure debilitating diseases in an alternative way such as:

  • Reducing Hangovers
  • Lowering Cholesterol
  • Lower Blood Sugar
  • Helps with Weight Loss
  • Protects Brain Cells
  • Fights Cancer Cells

Keep your eyes peeled for Lucha’s brand new menu launching very soon which will see our prickly little superfood friend ‘cactus’ pop up in a variety of Tacos and Quesedillas combinations!!
