How to make the perfect Margarita!
If we’re known for one thing at Lucha, then it’s our ability to make the perfect margarita time after time! The only thing you really need to ask yourself is: straight up or on the rocks?
Since we began our margarita making journey all those years ago, it became clear that the perfect Margarita wasn’t how it was made or who had the best flair, but it ultimately came down to just three single ingredients.
Get them right and you will have one of the best tasting margaritas ever made on your hands.
Bold and zingy in flavour, striking the perfect balance between sweet and sour, and all thanks to the subtle combination of orange liqueur, tequila and fresh lime juice.
So, when the guys at the Liverpool Cookbook approached us for our final menu choices we couldn’t think of any better drink to feature, see below for how to make a Lucha style classic margarita.
Preparation Time: 5 Mins
40ml Herradura Plata Tequila
20ml Cointreau Liqueur
20ml Fresh Lime Juice
Shake with ice and fine strain over ice (do not over dilute).
Salt rim (preferably coarse sea salt, or why not make one of our flavoured salts below***)
Margarita glass or Coupette
Small measuring spoons
Small tea strainer
Make your own Chilli Salt
Combine 100gm of dried chilies with 100g coarse sea salt in a pestle mortar. Mix and grind.
Do not overdo, a coarse texture is preferred.
Wet the rim of your glass with a lime wedge and roll in the coarse chilli salt.
Sit back, relax and enjoy muchacha’s!!
